DETROIT - The irony was hard to overlook: As Phil Kessel played his first game for Toronto and fired 10 shots on goal, the Bruins offense looked more anemic than ever.

The Bruins had ample chances last night, including two solid post shots, but they continued to fire blanks and were stymied by Chris Osgood and the Red Wings, 2-0.

from the AP, this about the player who received the third star in tonight's Toronto game: Phil Kessel, a candidate for the U.S. Olympic team, received a loud ovation each time he touched the puck and often looked dangerous once it was on his stick.

Acquired by the Leafs in a September trade with Boston for two first-round picks and a second-round selection, he had been sidelined while recovering from offseason shoulder surgery. The speedy 22-year-old looked strong on the puck and showed no fear going into the corners when he had to.

I called it a night half way through the second period. Looks like I made the right choice.

Right, so Phil Kessel had as many goals last night as the Bruins. I'm sure he won't ever score a GOAL again, ha ha. Your prediction for the game was wrong, wrong, wrong, again, just like always.
