NEW YORK - Pedro Martinez would have preferred to exit Yankee Stadium on the shoulders of his grateful and adoring Philadelphia Phillies teammates late last night, this after reaching back and finding the proper mix of slow, slower and slowest pitches that would keep his team alive in the World Series.

Instead, he got this: After allowing four runs in just four innings and taking the loss as the Yankees emerged with a 7-3 victory in Game 6 for their 27th world championship, Martinez took a long, lonely walk out of this glitzy new Bronx ballyard without waiting by his locker for the customary postgame Q&A session.

Congratulations to the NY Yankees on their 27th World Championship. Matsui is the greatest Japanese player to ever hit America, with due respect to Ichiro. The 425 million spent in the off season paid off. FINALLY.

"The 425 million spent in the off season paid off. FINALLY." Those are great words for sportsman aren't they? Great competitve spirit. We don't hear "I knew the kid had it in him" not "these guys came together to over-come" What we're left with this year is "that 425 million came in handy" One of the great sports phrases of all time. NOT!

Yeah o k as long as he s does not pitch for the redsox. It is high time to retire and face the fact he is nothing special without a 95 mph heater.

New york celebrates another championship that was bought. What New England needs is for the Pats & Celts to win it all this year to help WEEI and others stations quiet those arogant NY fans.
