Texas Longhorns are real McCoy

Texas’ Colt McCoy may be on the verge of setting an NCAA record for career wins by a quarterback but, as coach Mack Brown is quick to point out, neither McCoy nor any of his teammates has a Big 12 title or BCS championship on his resume.

The Longhorns’ lack of late-season success can hardly be blamed on McCoy. In 2006, they were on the verge of wrapping up the Big 12 South when a late-season injury to McCoy did them in. In 2008, they finished the regular season tied with Oklahoma and Texas Tech, but the league tiebreaker went to the Sooners, who had been beaten by Texas.
