Big Papi expects big things in 2010
CANTON - Theo Epstein has since said the words weren’t meant as a shot across the bow, but they sure came across that way.
At the Red Sox’ season-ending press conference, the general manager directed the following at David Ortiz: “If he’s going to be the DH on this team, we need him to be a force.”

GM all Red Sox Fans! Here's the AFL report from Monday afternoons game from Arizona,The mesa Solar Sox actually won a game!7-2! The winning pitcher was none other than the Sox right hander Richard Lentz who in picking up the victory went 2 Innings giving up just one hit and 1 walk while striking out 2 batters all the while lowering his ERA to a respectable 0.84,the other pitcher to take the bump from the Sox organization was again the big lefty Dustin Richardson and he was again very strong making that 2 consecutive good performances he went 1 inning allowing no hits no runs while striking out 1.As for the everyday players representing the Sox Jose Iglesias went 1-3 with a run scored, and Ryan Kalish was 0-2 with a run scored an RBI and a stolen base as he reached base twice. No other Sox players were involved in yesterdays game.On the local front the news was good as The Director of Minor League operations declined the opportunity to join Jed Hoyer in San Diego. In an interesting name being tossed around on MLBTR.com do you think the Sox could or should make a run at El Cabayo Carlos Lee should JBay take a hike?I also was looking at some of the more interesting names who might be available as someone mentioned Brad Hawpe how about staying in the same City and re-acquire Matt Murton whose OPS last year at AAA was in the 900's,just a thought....Well if I don't talk with you all during the day,may all you Red Sox fans have a great day,as for the trolls from NY may your day stink as usual!!
Still not up to par with Peter Gammons although in fairness, Peter usually writes his own material while you rip off your stuff from writers of inferior quality. Just for the record, it would be nice if you could somehow learn to put a space betwen the end of one sentence and the beginning of another. By the way, it may have slipped your attention but the article was about Ortiz, not your beloved Solar Sox. These are not opinions, bozo, they're facts. And let the record show it was you who started the daily name calling nonsense with your tired TROLL comment.
Well the first troll has arrived!!yankssukin09!
What a surprise!Not..This is a Red Sox article but no surprise that the troll from the sewer team is here!!He tried too get in before everyone else so he could brag about his losing team.Since the losers did what they do best,he comes to hurl his insults..Considere them hurled back douchebag!

My, such a sensitive soul. We'll forget that your last comment makes no sense at all because most of yours never do. Still having a problem putting a space after the period, aren't you? How are you ever going to steal Peter Gammons' job if you don't learn proper punctuation? And let's not forget your spelling woes. It is CONSIDER, not CONSIDERE. Try to remember to check your spelling and punctuation when you post your next scintillating sports report. I'm sure the masses are clamoring for your next piece of stolen material. Hey, anything to justify your existence, right?
Thnx for the editorial,I wasn't expecting anyone to really care that much about my thoughts on the Red Sox and since most people here are not attempting to become Sports writers I'm guessing my punctuation and spelling are not required too be perfect.Oh and as for spacing I'm not writing a column.
Fair enough, but his problems from this past year were not merely physical. He has family problems too contend with,as well as rumors(they were unsubstantiated)as to his alledged use of steroids or peds during the 2003 year. Those were contributing factors in his having a down year,I do agree with you that he could prepare himself better and should do so this off season for next year.
If the Sox were smart they will not put themselves in the position of thinking Ortiz will return to form. He is clearly on the decline. This phony moose needs to wipe that fake smile from his face and get himself in shape. As a long time Ortiz supporter, I would rather see the Sox jettison this phony as he is a disgrace to the history of the Boston Red Sox organization and baseball in general.
