Tim Wakefield pitching for AL nod
Big star-ting turn
Beyond attempting to get the Red Sox’ last homestand of the first half off to a winning start, Tim Wakefield will have some additional motivation against the Seattle Mariners tonight.
Wakefield’s outing will be his final one before Major League Baseball announces the rosters Sunday afternoon for the 80th annual All-Star Game in St. Louis on July 14.

At his age it would be really cool to see Wakefield get selected for the All Star team. Though I'm not crazy about Sox players playing in that glorified exhibition, especially pitchers it would be a nice icing on the cake for him. Yankees lose last night, beautiful. Lets see if the Sox can grab at least 2 more games in the standing during this homestand. Even more would be great.
Win or lose tonight, me thinks Joe Madden will do the right thing and add Wake to the ASG staff.
Nice game for New york last night.Five at the break sounds good to me,I think we got the little fella in a box he cannot get out of at last ,hear he threw his morning maypo and juicey all over.
Bob, lol that is hillarious. Between watching a couple other things on tv I was checking in on the Sea Ny game. Very nice loss.
Yankees have 4 at home with the Jays then 3@ Minny and 3@ Angels. I smell a downfall here. Predict .500 at best 5-5, hopefully worse of course. And Sox go 7-3 on this homestand. Hopefully better but that would let them pick up a couple more games.
Yeah I was watching it old old school on the espn scoreboard for a bit last night ,I bail when it was 6 -2 than put on Planet Mikey weei.He was fooling around too much had some babe in the booth with him ,always bad when he brings the chick in at least that loudmouth Lenny Mags was out last night.
Wakefield kicking off the homestand should be a good thing,if the bats can get hot,sox should go 6-4 7-3...hopefully the sky will not open up tonight.
3 more games played and the Sox are at the halfway mark of 81 games played. If Sox go 2-1 in the next 3 games they will be 50-31, on pace for 100 wins. That is incredible in the AL East Where NY,TAM,and Tor are all playing over .500 ball. Of course being 9-0 vs Yankees is the sweetest part of it.
And with Lowell out ,Youk had been out ,Jed out all year to date ,Dice -k a lost year, papi mia for 2 full months at the plate ,this is a REAL TEAM.Getting it done as a unit in spite of all kinds of roadblocks.
