WASHINGTON — Independents who swept Barack Obama to a historic 2008 victory broke big for Republicans on Tuesday as the GOP wrested political control from Democrats in Virginia and New Jersey, a troubling sign for the president and his party heading into an important midterm election year.

Conservative Republican Bob McDonnell’s victory in the Virginia governor’s race over Democrat R. Creigh Deeds and moderate Republican Chris Christie’s ouster of unpopular New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine was a double-barreled triumph for a party looking to rebuild after being booted from power in national elections in 2006 and 2008.

Notice how the AP uses the white house talking point that the outcome really doesn't have anything to do with obama. Let's see how obam does after nov 2010 when the senate swings republican and the house nears parity. There will be a new breed of born again fiscally conservative democrats trying to keep their jobs.

HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!

Hey, Barry. Whaddya think about this?

I'd be checking the mail for all the "Thanks for all your help" cards from Deeds and Corzei. Yeah, just sit by that mailbox, they'll be pouring in momentarily.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

A 'referendum' on your presidency? Nah, we all think you suck, we didn't need an election for that.

Barry, please, tell us some more about how none of this matters.

I haven't had a good laugh in, oh, at least a second and a half!

This is a sign of things to come. As expected, Comrade Obama and his liberal pals in Congress have tried to shove too much "liberalism" down the throat of America and now the people are starting to show their displeasure. 2010 will be bad for the dems and 2012 will be a disaster for them!

Prognosticator Pedro said yesterday, "Corzine embraced the greatest prez of our generation and went up in the polls and will now probably win the race."

But it wasn't even really close. Maybe it means Americans are coming to their senses or maybe it means the loonies just stayed home and only come out to vote for the Obama. (peace be upon him)

MA hates Bush but we still elected Romney when he was in office. Electing Governors has nothing to do with who is in the White House you fools.

Yah and this is what?? Obama days are numbered. I don't recall Mr Bush making 20 stops in this state ever. But Barrack went 20 times to New Jersay.. I guess he want to match the time he granted our General in Charge of the Middle East operations.. Yep 20 is close to 25.. Barrack is toast. most moderates are going to bail. I guess when you call people names such as Nazis and Traitors and knuckle draggers.. well you reap what you sow.. barrack is a one term president.. the only thing that is left in his time in office.. is when are the Democrats going to throw him under the bus?

OMG power to the people...I have no fear that the result of our experiment will be that men may be trusted to govern themselves without a master.
Thomas Jefferson
The minority is what it is a minority..GOD wins in the end.Secular organizations who deviate from the norm are becoming unpopular..change belongs in parking meters. The sleeping giant has awoken. What out of the chaos and rampid push to ram everything through congress before the ship sinks.A balance of power is needed to control these bag of mixed nuts.

That made a lot of sense. The guy was a very unpopular Governor and he still almost won. If the Independent wasn't in the race he would've won. I know in your tiny little mind it reflects on Obama somehow - but I'm afraid it doesn't. Bill Owens won the congressional seat in Albany that hasn't been held by a DEM in over 100 years. Did that win have anything to do with Obama? You bet it did! Obama helps win back a seat from a city that hasn't voted for a DEM in almost a century! Obama is the man!
