WEST DENNIS — A 19-year-old was shot in the back early yesterday morning in what police believe to be a non-random act, reports the Cape Cod Times.

At 12:35 a.m., the police found Richard Howerton of the Barnacle Motel in his room, suffering from a single gunshot wound to his back, according to Dennis police Capt. William Monahan. Howerton was shot on Janet Road, which is behind the motel, then walked back to his room, Monahan said.
