City Councilor John R. Connolly topped the ticket in a hotly contested free-for-all for four at-large seats, a race that set the stage for a new generation of Hub politicians and may signal the start of the 2013 mayor’s race, experts said yesterday.

“It’s a new chapter in a whole new book of Boston politics,” said Lawrence DiCara, a former city councilor and unofficial Hub political historian. “And the next mayor’s race begins (this) morning.”

Will the Boston City Council upgrade the stenographic machine used to record proceedings, transactions and Councilors debate at public meetings of the Council?... The stenographic machine should be the device that is computer connected for closed captioning for folks with hearing loss and make available the stenographic machine record of the last public meeting that people can read the Councilors' debate and comment on their words with feedback by email citing the stenographic machine record.

I wonder if Arroyo, like his father, is a card-carrying socialist member of ANSWER, along with Honest Chuck Turner. A motley crew of the newly elected, to positions that have little power (but nice pay and perks) sicne Menino took the teeth out of the Council

How many people voted for Arroyo thinking he was his old man? On another note, Connolly topped the ticket. He and the rest of them can rest easy for the next two years while they do, what do they do again?

I hate voting for the least bad candidate, but unfortunately that always seems the case and I have no choice. Can't we ever vote in someone with real business experience? No more political non-profit lifers, we need people who have been held accountable for their work and actually had to face the possibility of losing their job should they screw up, be incompetent or part of a company run so poorly that it goes out of business. Give me some time, and I will bring a real voter option to the table.
