City Councilors Michael Flaherty and Sam Yoon surrendered their safe seats to challenge Mayor Thomas M. Menino, and with last night’s defeat their futures seemed uncertain.
“I don’t know if they know what they’re going to do,” said colleague John Tobin, a city councilor.

Flaherty is not going anywhere.
He is the real deal. He loves his family and his city and he wants the best for both.
Tobin would wish he would go away.

A murder at a polling place is just a perfect Omen for Menino's final term.

Councilor Yoon is the most intelligent voice on Boston City Council. The debate and remarks of Councilor Yoon should be preserved from the stenographic machine record of the public meetings of Boston City Council.

If and when Menino decides not to seek a sixth term, Yoon and Flaherty will be slinging the hash against each other big time.

Are you even a boston resident? Probably not. Congratulations to Michael. He did a GREAT job. The actual turnout was disgraceful. Lots of people didn't vote for many different reasons. Boston is full of students who could care less about who's Mayor. If most families weren't forced to move ot the city, he would have won by a long shot. It's almost impossible for someone to beat a mayor that's been in office all these years. Especially one who threatens city employees and businesses. He's way to arrogant to give someone else a shot. Michael had him running scared up until the final hours. Job well done!!!! I guess it's another four years of listening to menino try to say I I I...
