Victimized twice

The state’s decision to cut funding for the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) program is in a word insane (Nov. 15).

Certainly budgets are tight, but SANE shouldn’t even be on the table for discussion. The women and children who are victims of sexual assault deserve the very best we can offer; they deserve justice. SANE helps put rapists in jail and often-times spares the victims the emotional trauma of a trial. What more noble or appropriate use for taxpayer dollars could there possibly be?
