Confront bullying
Friday, November 20, 2009Bullying should be a part of every curriculum (“Survey: Bullies prey on autistic kids,” Nov. 13). I have a son with regressive autism and not only is he made fun of, his sister who was in the same school was also ridiculed. The counselor gave me a great book, “Bullies are a Pain in the Brain,” that helped my daughter stand up for herself.
This should be in the curriculum for all kids. If kids are asked to spend a little supervised time with kids on the spectrum, they are much less likely to bully. The fear of the unknown becomes irrelevant.

FAIRHAVEN — A Fairhaven High School football player was allegedly duct-taped to a bed, physically assaulted and subjected to acts of a "gross and lewd" nature by several teammates during a summer football camp, sources familiar with a hazing investigation said yesterday.
As details of the alleged assault at Camp Wishbone emerged yesterday, school officials said they were reviewing their internal investigation and met with parents about the state of the Blue Devils football program. The Cape & Islands District Attorney's Office, which is heading the criminal investigation, declined comment, but a source acknowledged that state police were interviewing witnesses.
