Defining excellence

Although the intent has merit, it is ludicrous to single out one teacher for a monetary reward (Nov. 19). Where does a great physical education or computer teacher stand in relation to a language arts teacher whose one class out of four blows away the MCAS thus improving the school’s status? He or she is not better, just lucky due to the heterogeneous grouping.
