Capt. Kyle Rolf Van De Giesen of Temecula, Calif., formerly of North Attleboro, a Marine captain, was killed in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan on Oct. 26. He was 29.

Born in Ridgewood, N.J., he had lived in North Attleboro for many years before moving to Temecula. He graduated from North Attleboro High School in 1998 and St. Anselm College in Manchester, N.H., with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.
