Walter Herbert Baxter of North Attleboro, a retired truck driver and antiques dealer, died Wednesday at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro after a brief illness. He was 71.

Born, raised and educated in Boston, Mr. Baxter graduated from Northeastern University. A former resident of Randolph and West Roxbury, he had settled in North Attleboro 28 years ago.
