Southie WWII vets journeying to D.C. memorial
‘Last ride’ for band of brothers
“Sister Lois Connors of the Laboure (Center) is going with us on the bus to Washington,” John Mullen announced, his eyes brightening. “It’s like a two for one: She’s a nun, and a registered nurse.
“So, she’ll handle all our medicines . . . and say prayers for us at the same time. This way here, we figure we’ll be covered on both fronts. After all, we have some problems that go with old age.”

Not necessary hobo...just leave this alone as a feel good story about some people who deserve a memorable "last ride"...they deserve it. Thanks to you and your group for your service. I hope some of your other buddies who read this will hop on board, the more the merrier. Have a great time.
Martin, John, John and all the rest; enjoy your trip to the WWII Memorial. The country and the rest of the free World owe you all a great debt of gratitude. Treasure your war time memories (good and bad) and be sure to share them and preserve them for following generations. I'm proud to follow your legacy.
If you’d like to help, donations can be sent to The Veterans Express Fund, c/o Mount Washington Bank, 708 East Broadway, South Boston, MA 02127.
