Michael Flaherty not amused by Mayor Menino’s ‘scare tactics’

Would-be Boston mayor Michael Flaherty was crossing Main Street in Charlestown yesterday when a Toyota with a Mayor Menino sticker on its rear window honked and pulled over. Then the driver reached out to shake Flaherty’s hand and pledge support to him on Election Day.

A few minutes later, another driver did the same. Before that, a woman who lives in the Mishawum Park housing development, with a Menino sticker by her door, said, “I’m voting for Flaherty,” as the candidate and his aides went door to door handing out bags of candy in a neighborhood where stoops were festooned with Halloween pumpkins, bats and cobwebs.

These adolescent fantasies are getting to be pretty cute. Michael Flaherty is ok at playing public servant dress up. I liked his bartender picture you guys put on the cover, too. But I don't need a bartender - I need a leader, and Flaherty ain't it.

I just saw both Flaherty and Menino speak on TV.

Speaking objectively -- Flaherty sounded great! Articulate -- sincere, energized -- real leadership skills. A wonderful presence!

Menino was astounding! In that his abilities are terribly limited -- pathetic -- ordinarily, I would have sympathy for this type of a person if he were not dishonest.

Mayor Flaherty! Support for you extends way beyond the city limits and throughout the state.

I, personally do something each and every day to promote your candidacy --- blogging - phone calls - raising the election issues with every Boston voter that I encounter.

And I am ready for Tuesday night -- "Celebrate! Celebrate! Dance to the misic!"

I do not drink at all -- other than a little experimenting in college - I have never been a drinker --- however - for this grand occasion I am going to drink.

I am trying to get Menino's nephew to buy me a drink -- that is if he can cope with the election results.

See you Tuesday night! Till then, Mr. Mayor!

Menino and his Machine don't even mind bullying little old ladies to stay in power. It's time to vote this nasty man out of office. Vote Flaherty on Tuesday.

This just shows the extent of Menino's intimidation tactics in our city. It's time to elect a Mayor who doesn't have to resort to this type of behavior to get things done in Boston. Vote Flaherty on Tuesday!

And Menino is? He has done some good things for this city, but it's time for someone new in city hall. It's time for someone who will get rid of the dishonest BRA that ignores us citizens and does what it wants; what. The Mayor wants. It's time for Mayor Flaherty!

So there already was a primary election with a secret ballot and Menino got 51% of the vote and Flaherty got in the low twenties. How does that square with Flaherty's "wide spread intimidation" theory?

Actually, especially given the state of the economy, since we're talking about timing, it's time for the mayor who's managed to keep our bond rating at its highest ever. I know loony Yoony thinks that's small potatoes, but he'll understand when he grows up.
