Many veteran Southern California desert vacationers prefer newer cities within a short drive of Palm Springs.

Enclaves such as Desert Hot Springs, Cathedral City, Rancho Mirage and Palm Desert tend to attract a wealthy crowd of celebrities and retirees, but budget travelers will discover unusual finds.

Palm Springs, California is a fantastic vacation destination. It is the sunniest city in the US averaging less then 3 inches of rain a year. The last time it rained h ere was over 8 months ago in February.
