Possessed of a warm, husky alto and a passionate, lightly bluesy style, Canada’s Milman thoroughly torches all the ice maiden divas that have turned the jazz singing scene into tundra of late. Check out her teasing swagger on the title cut, her decidedly smoldering take on Joni Mitchell’s “Be Cool,” or her samba-rific version of “My One and Only Love.” Not everything works - her attempt to make jazz of Bruce Springsteen’s “I’m on Fire” generates little heat. But the rest of the program smokes. Download: “50 Ways to Leave Your Lover.”
