Few bands in any genre carry such a notorious reputation for controversy - or such expectations - as Slayer. Helping the cause is the triumphant return of producer Rick Rubin, who helped the band find its signature sonic slam on the 1986 classic “Reign in Blood.” Slayer may be nearing the end of its career, but on this clenched-fist speed metal assault they step up their game a notch, enough to inspire a new generation to consider carving “Slayer” into their arms.
