“Raditude” (Geffen): B+

“Raditude” is a word your aching-to-be-hip dad would use. It’s fitting; singer/songwriter Rivers Cuomo is now a father and turns 40 next year. The midlife plaintiveness of Weezer’s seventh studio album is inescapable. Intentional or not, “I’m Your Daddy” radiates a dirty-old-man vibe. “The Girl Got Hot” is about discovering how the ugly girl from junior high blossomed. And “Let It All Hang Out” finds Cuomo getting cranky about bills and the boss - adulthood gripes if there ever were any.

“Raditude’s” power pop blends elements of emo and electronica, and while not wholly original, is cocky and effervescent. Download: “I Don’t Want to Let You Go.”
