“Warm Heart of Africa” (Green Owl): A-

Malawian singer Esau Mwamwaya and British DJ/production duo Radioclit launched this electro-Afro-pop outfit last year with a buzzed-about underground mixtape. Now comes the proper debut with lots of African folk, dub and new wave synth streaks. If that sounds weird and complex, it’s not. Simple African rhythms and hip Euro production come together joyously - the hook and beat of “Mfumu” elicit pure elation. Guest appearances by M.I.A. and Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig will keep the band buzzing; the music will keep you listening. Download: “Mfumu.” (Appearing Sunday with Javelin at Great Scott.)
