CARLY SIMON
Friday, October 30, 2009Simon’s son Ben Taylor suggested Mom rework her best-known tunes. But why? The originals were perfect. Nevertheless, she revisits “Anticipation,” “You Belong to Me” and eight others, stripping them down to her kids and a few laid-back friends playing around in her Vineyard home. The production is crystal clear, but Simon doesn’t always sing in key. And she should have ditched the idiotic banter: “You’re So Vain” is ruined by a moronic “more cowbell” plea. Download: “That’s the Way I’ve Always Heard It Should Be.”
The reviewer - by their own admission - decided before they even listened to the cd that: they weren\'t going to like it, and didn\'t understand why Carly had even made it. Prejudging.
And making comments like \"idiotic\" and \"moronic\" is just personal opinion - not a professional review.
