As “V” returns to television and “The Fourth Kind” heads to theaters this weekend, it looks like alien abduction has returned as a hot topic for troubled times.
Wherever you stand on the “we are not alone” issue, extraterrestrial encounters have had audiences flocking to theaters ever since Flash Gordon took on Ming the Merciless in the 1930s.

Funny how the article mentions the amazing 1950's version of 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers', but then shows a clip from the 1970's remake.
That gaff was in keeping with the overall content of the piece.
Think you should put Communion in top five just for the fact that Christopher Walken is in it. But Signs? Aliens that are allergic to water, one of the most common resources in the universe? How could such an intelligent race not know this? Terrible movie
A remake of a remake, of a remake. boy talk about television being repetitive, and not to mention completely boring.
d TV is all remakes and "reality" shows. Movies are all sequels. Broadway is all adaptations of movies. Radio is all screaming and more screaming. Everything's boring. I'm gonna eat some worms.
Why would anyone put "Signs" in that list? Good grief! It was not only a dog of a movie, but it was logically inconsistent. Aliens killed by water invade a water dominated planet, and spend rainy nights in corn fields without any water issues. Even my then-5-year-old nephew noticed that!
