Hilary Swank enters the Oscar race again as legendary aviatrix Amelia Earhart in “Amelia.”

The role of the female pioneer who disappeared in the South Pacific in 1937 seems a natural for the two-time Best Actress Academy Award winner. But Swank turned down the opportunity a decade ago, right after she won her first Oscar for “Boys Don’t Cry.”
