Breakfast isn’t just for breakfast any more at the Friendly Toast in Kendall Square. At this new diner/malt shop, with its Emerald City green walls hung with a museum’s worth of kitschy, thrift-shop doodads and retro advertising memorabilia, breakfast is also lunch and dinner, appetizer, entree and/or dessert. Served up in enormous portions.

The formula proved gangbustas at the original TFT in Portsmouth, N.H., hence this recently opened Cambridge location.
