I was cooling my heels on Boylston Street the other day, waiting to see if my new coiffure would literally stop traffic as my stylist promised, when I noticed my fellow Hub fashionistas in the sweaty grip of a trend.

The fur vest. Shearling, faux pelts or hapless woodland creatures - they were all having their day as The Latest Thing.

“Don’t they remind you of something?” I asked Manolo, my beloved Pom.

“The 1960s. Can we go home now?”

“Wait - I’ve got it! ‘Clan of the Cave Bear!” I realized why I’ve been so leery of this look - it’s just so Cro-Magnificent.

One lovely young woman walked by with a (hopefully) faux stoat-or-something vest over skinny jeans and boots. I sighed.

I know it’s of-the-moment chic - but unless you just discovered fire, best leave this look on the rack.

Speaking of ferocious fashion, my red-carpet stakeout subdued plenty.

SHREDDY AND WILLING: Cat got into the toilet paper again, huh? Danni Minogue glues the tatters to her frock to make an example of Mittens’ bad behavior.

PIN-HEAD: Apparently, the burglars who recently swiped Paris Hilton’s jewelry also made off with all her belts and buttons. The poor thing does the best she can to keep it all together.

FERGALICIOUS: “It’s a bit Land-O-Lakes butter girl,” said Manolo. Little cynic. I think Fergie’s found a charming way to recycle her old false eyelashes.
