1. Joseph Addai is Andrew Toney

2. Reggie Jackson had 142 errors to 133 assists in 2,102 games / Dwight Evans had 59 errors to 157 assists in 2,146 games

3. The best news we’ve had in a month is that CC Sabathia didn’t win the Cy Young

4. If Randy Moss and Wes Welker continue on their season pace they will have compiled the following three year stats and where that would place them in Patriot history:

Wes Welker: 337 receptions (6th) / 3,457 yards (9th )/ 13 TD (29th)
Randy Moss: 270 receptions (10th) / 4,085 yards (8th)/ 46 TD (3rd)

5. Michael Bishop in Canada: 15 TD to 20 INT / 50.4% completeion for Winnipeg

6. In Notre Dame’s last 10 games vs ranked teams - the Irish are 0-10 and have been outscored 357-121

7. Amazing Stat - Tim Tebow is 41-5 in games he played in for his college career

8. Old School - Sidney Wicks played in 163 of 164 games as a Celtic (1976-1978)

9. Just a Little Bit Outside - Two award winners from losing teams in honor of Zach Greinke’s Cy Young

Not the Way To Start the Work Week - UGGGGH!
Posted by Michael Connelly at 12:43 am

1. Patriots vs. Colts - The Patriots outplayed the Colts the entire game and hand it away. Belichick’s decision to go for it on fourth down can be justified by the times of the Colts last three scoring drives in the fourth quarter: 2:04 / 1:49 / 1:47

OFFENSE:

* Last Patriot drive only took 23 seconds!
* If the Faulk catch took one more second - the booth would have been compelled to review the play
* Maroney fumbles on one yard line after a 13 play / 7:51 drive
* Nick Kaczur meet Max Lane (donate your check to the Blanket Fund)
* Matt Light meet Wally Pip
* Moss could have called for a fair catch on that pop up Brady threw for the 63 yard TD (it would have hit the catwalk in Tampa)
* The second TD to Moss was a rocket
* Who the hell is Isiah Stanback?

DEFENSE:

* Patriots should have let Addai score with 1:17 left on his 13 yard run to the one yard line
* Why is Wilhite one on one with Reggie Wayne - he moved faster to Cumberland Farms
* Boden gets interception and the secondary picks up an unsportsmanlike flag / Wilhite gets one and is Chris Canty-ing out of bounds - play the game for crying out loud.
* Burgess makes Chris Slade look like Lawrence Taylor
* I know Meriweather didn’t practice earlier in the week but only one tackle?

OFFICIALS

* Even though the Patriots couldn’t challenge the Faulk catch - the officials got the biggest play of the game WRONG!
* Colts should have been called for a trip on Welker’s long punt return
* Felt the Colts got away with a lot of late hits - especially bending back Patriots that had their legs locked on the ground
* Are the refs gonna make Colts punter Pat McAfee tuck in his shirt?
* Penalty yards: Pats 72 - Colts 20 (bogus interference call)

STATS:

* Patriots had more rushing yards (113 - 91), passing yards (364-316), time of possession (35:02-24:58), total plays (72-63)

MISC:

* After the decision to go for it on 4th down the second most talked about topic will be Pats security guy knocking the NBC camera man down while he ran along side Belichick
* Is Slater ever going to break one?
* Can’t believe NBC didn’t have five angles of the Faulk catch
* Does Manning have something wrong with his hand - he threw a terrible ball all night?
* Great game by Faulk, Welker, Moss, Vollmer and Brady
* Kaczur, Burgess, Thomas and Wilhite not so much

OTHER

* Faith Hill provides a nice opening for the game
* Marvin Harrison much be in some trouble that no team would pick him up even as a #3 wide receiver
* OK Coors Light we get the idea (do coaches have to approve the use of their image because Jim Mora looks like a dope)?
* The way the Colts line was blocking I thought Manning was going to make them sit inside the porta-potty
* Cris Phil Collinsworth was superb
* Maroney stated his high school instead of his college during introductions after his college Minnesota only beat South Dakota State 16-13 Saturday
* SI had their mid season all pro team which featured Steve Gostkowski and Brandon Meriweather
* Crazy beard on Moss
* What’s the story with McGowan during introductions with his hat on sideways?
* Was Vinatieri pushing Belichick’s button chasing after him after the game to shake his hand

2. Around College Football

* My upset picks of Idaho and Duke didn’t quite work out
* My prediction from the beginning of the season of teams that would go undefeated in the regular season is looking good for Boise, Florida, Alabama, Texas
* BCS is sweating out Cincy and TCU - five undefeated teams going into the bowl season would be a nightmare for them
* Isn’t the SEC Championship game really the national title game (Florida vs. Alabama)?
* Navy now 8-3 with losses coming against #8 Pitt / #9 Ohio State / #28 Temple - QB Ricky Dobbs leading the country in scoring
* Best quarterback in college football right now is Andrew Luck of Stanford
* My Top Five Heisman - Mark Ingram (Alabama), Tim Tebow (Florida), Kellen Moore (Boise State), Toby Gerhart (Stanford), CJ Spiller (Clemson)

3. The record of the NFL team after agreeing to film the HBO series Hard Knocks:

2001 - Ravens…….10-6 lost in the second round of playoffs

2004 - Jaguars…….9-7
2007 - Chiefs………4-12
2008 - Cowboys…..9-7
2009 - Bengals……7-2

4. Former Patriots Around the NFL

S. Young………..91-33 (.734)
Marino…………..147-93 (.612)
Elway……………148-82 (.643)

6. T.O. had a tantrum on the Bills sideline on Sunday which begs the question - how does a team do the year after they rid themselves of T.O.:

* 49ers……..2-14
* Eagles…..10-6
* Cowboys.. 6-3
* Bills………???

7. Amazing Stat - From Yankee fan Ryan K from ESPN Magazine - This decades MLB Leaders:

HR’s - A Rod……………..435
Steals - Juan Pierre…….459

Wins - Petttitte…………..148
Saves - Rivera…………….397
Lowest ERA - Pedro…….3.01
Hit Batters - Wakefield….107
Strikeouts - R. Johnson…2,182

8. Old School: Patriots - Colts was the worst regular season loss for a local team since 9/22/91 when Roberto Kelly hit a game tying HR in the 9th inning with two outs as Morgan Magic was on the verge of taking over first place after being 11.5 games out a month before - Yankees won the game in extra innings 7-5. Sox never recovered

9. Just a Little Bit Outside - Before the game last night, NBC surveyed 20 living Hall of Fame quarterbacks on who they would take as their QB between Manning and Brady:

* The vote was 13.5 for Manning and 2.5 for Brady (4 abstained)
* Dan Fouts picked Manning - of course he did because he doesn’t understand anything about winning a ring (never mind 3 rings) - go shave
* Montana gave a 1/2 vote to each QB - and expounded - Brady would play in the first half and Manning in the second - if he was going to do that he should switch the order knowing Brady is the clutchest QB in football history

10. Randomocity

* The painful year for Boston sports continues! All five teams have a losing record! Three active teams all lost this weekend!
* Pacquiao and Mayweather will be the biggest fight of the century!
* Wish they would bring back the MTV series - Two A Days featuring Hoover High School Football
* How come the ladies up front in Roller Derby never adjusted to the slingshot move in which the trailing team rolled under their legs?
* Michelle Wie joins Danica Patrick as the most over-hyped athlete to finally win something
* I guess Milan Lucic is out of intensive care with his broken finger
* Do you know that Brett Favre is on pace to have his greatest season ever and maybe win MVP - pace for 32 TD to 6 INT / QB Rating 106.0
* What is Fireman Bill gonna do?
* Mercury Morris just threw up in his mouth

* Tom Brady and Peyton Manning have thrown for over 77,000 yards
* I think a reader mentioned this - how about Ben Watson to cover Daryl Clark?
* Remember the TD pass by Vinatieri to Troy Brown - that was awesome
* Patriot corner backs should all wear Ty Law shirts and freak out Peyton
* Still say that the bogus offensive inteference call on Troy Brown at the end of the first half of the 2006 AFC Championship game turned the game around
* Nice hit by Mike Curtis

10. Randomocity

* Someone again explain how Sweet Caroline is sung with so much more passion than the National Anthem
* Speaking of the national anthem is Rene Rancourt going with a two or three fist pump at Fenway on New Years

On Sale Now - The President’s TeamClick here

1. Patriots vs. Dolphins

OFFENSE

* Hardest Laurence Maroney has run in a long time (20 for 82)
* Moss - one handed catch and the one handed Heisman
* Stretched the field with Moss in first quarter loosening up the underneath for Welker
* Sam Aiken seems to be fighting the ball a little bit

DEFENSE

* Chung has that blitz timing down
* Adalius Thomas seemed more active
* Mayo 12 tackles
* Miami pulled off a 16 play / 10:09 drive for a touchdown on the Wildcat
* Patriots third in points allowed (behind Colts / Denver)

MISC

* Patriots aren’t usually on the short end of possession (28:53 / 31:07)
* Pats on pace to win 12 games and still haven’t hit stride
* No excuse in perfect weather the red and blue seats were half empty for the second half kick off

* How about Packers, Ravens and Bears all 4-4

3. Around College Football

* People at BCS were cheering the Iowa loss

* Mike Knuble…….327 games / 119 goals / 126 assists
* Brian Rolston……320 games / 115 goals / 126 assists
